Our jewelry is made with solid 14K or 18K gold and will not tarnish if cared for properly, but gold is a precious metal that can be damaged by certain chemicals. Here are some jewelry care tips to keep your Foss & Harper fine jewelry beautiful for years to come.
HANDLE WITH CARE
Handle your jewelry delicately, avoiding rough handling or impacts that can damage the gemstones or gold. When taking off or putting on jewelry, hold it by the metal and not the stones. Avoid wearing your jewelry if there is a chance it will be scratched or broken (i.e. during sports and physical activity, working in the garden, moving furniture, etc.), especially if your jewelry contains natural gemstones like pearls, opals, moonstones, sapphires or topaz.
CLEAN REGULARLY
Use a soft-bristled brush and mild soap to clean your jewelry regularly. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners (like toothpaste, bleaches, deep cleaners, detergents and solvents that can damage the gold or gemstones.
AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS
Remove your jewelry before showering and before applying lotions, perfumes, or hairsprays, as these can damage the metal and stones. Also, avoid wearing jewelry when swimming or doing household chores that involve harsh chemicals.
STORE SEPARATELY
Store your delicate jewelry separately in a compartment or pouch to avoid scratches and damage from other jewelry.
INSPECT PRONGS REGULARLY
Have the prongs inspected by a professional jeweler regularly to ensure they are secure and not in danger of breaking or becoming loose. Contact with chemicals or hard impact can result in loose prongs which can result in lost or damaged stones. If you think a stone might be loose, please contact our customer care team and stop wearing your jewelry until it has been repaired.
We hope you enjoy your jewelry for years and years to come, as much as we have enjoyed designing and making it. x
