Lifetime Manufacturers Warranty
At Foss and Harper, we have complete faith in the quality and workmanship of our jewelry - so much so that we offer a Lifetime Manufacturers Warranty for all solid gold jewelry pieces purchased from us. This warranty covers any manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover loss, theft, normal wear and tear, scratches or deformations during use, fading of rhodium-plating, damage caused by accident or improper use or neglect. The warranty does not cover the loss of diamonds larger than 0.15 carat. Large diamonds are set with much thicker prongs than smaller diamonds; they may loosen as the metal hardens and stretches with wear, yet they will still hold the center stone in place unless they are pulled back due to improper usage or accident. It is therefore important that you have the prongs on large center diamonds checked annually to make sure that the diamond sits as it should. It may also be a good idea to insure your jewelry as our warranty does not cover loss, theft, or accidental damages.
Terms and Conditions
In the unlikely event that a defect is found in your solid gold jewelry, the item can be sent back to us for inspection and repair. If the defect is determined to have occurred during the manufacturing process, we will replace or repair the item at no cost to you. We will replace any lost stones up to 0.15 carat once. If the damage was due to normal wear-and-tear, improper usage/neglect or accident, we will repair the product at cost, including the cost of shipping the repaired item back to you. It is up to the sole discretion of Foss and Harper to determine whether a defect is due to a manufacturing fault.
The customer is responsible for any shipping costs incurred when sending products to us for inspection. You are also responsible for the product reaching us safely. The warranty will be void if your jewelry is repaired or otherwise changed at goldsmiths/jewelers not previously approved by us.
This Warranty is non-transferable and shall be void if the ownership of the property (purchaser) changes to a different person or party. Proof of purchase, such as a receipt, order confirmation, or gift receipt is required. More in-depth information can be found in our Terms of Service.
2-Year Warranty for Silver Jewelry
We provide a 2-Year Manufacturer's Warranty for all our sterling silver pieces. This warranty protects your jewelry against defects in manufacturing and workmanship. The warranty does not cover loss, theft, normal wear and tear, fading of the rhodium-plating, oxidation, scratches or deformations during use, damage caused by accident or improper use or neglect.More in-depth information can be found in our Terms of Service.
Rhodium-Plated Sterling Silver
Our sterling silver jewelry is plated with rhodium (a rare, precious metal) to achieve a durable, tarnish-resistant finish that maintains its brilliance over time. Rhodium-plated sterling silver jewelry, by its nature, will show signs of wear over time, as the protective rhodium layer may eventually wear away — particularly if the piece is worn with great frequency or subjected to extreme conditions.
Fading of the rhodium layer is not considered a manufacturing defect and depends greatly on factors such as the wearer's habits, exposure to harsh chemicals, abrasives, and the pH of one’s skin. The condition and lifetime of your jewelry very much depends on how well you take care of it. A well-maintained piece of rhodium-plated sterling silver jewelry can retain its beauty for years.
If the rhodium layer does wear off to reveal the sterling silver base underneath, you can send your jewelry pieces back to us for re-plating (at a fee), or just wear your jewelry as is. Sterling silver, on its own, is also a precious metal that is used extensively in fine jewelry.
Sterling Silver without Rhodium-Plating
Sterling silver is a fine metal that can oxidise and tarnish, or be prone to scratches if not cared for properly. Tarnish is not a manufacturing defect and can be easily polished using the silver polishing cloth included in your purchase. The best way to prevent tarnish is to wear your sterling silver jewelry often to help create a protective patina over time.
Natural Variations
All our jewelry is crafted with natural gemstones and each piece may vary slightly. This is to be expected and adds to the one-of-a-kind nature of the jewelry you purchase from us. These variations do not qualify as flaws or defects.
Gemstones, pearls and other semi-precious stones are natural products and therefore change over time. Normal wear and tear, exposure to sunlight, water and other chemicals or products may change the appearance of your stones. These variations do not qualify as flaws or defects.
